I get to work fairly early, about 6:15 AM. This gives me time to review the schedule and prepare for my day. Unfortunately, I find it does not allow time for breakfast, something I think is important. Most of the guys arrive around 6:30 and we start work at 7:00 AM.

Many times I have thought how nice it would be to have someone cook a nutritious breakfast and have it ready when we all arrive. Not only that, but prepare a lunch as well. There are dozens of restaurants within the vicinity, but a balanced diet is very hard to find.

I considered having a nutritionist prepare several menus and hiring a person to maintain a small cafeteria, on our premises. It didn’t take long to figure that the cost would be prohibitive, unless we could increase the number of patrons substantially. I also thought about some sort of service that might provide meals, such as a caterer of sorts.

The benefits of having a better diet for our staff interest me. I also think it would be a nice benefit. Does anyone have any thoughts they could share?

Wonderful idea. Today there are a lot of options for healthy and tasty prepared meals which you could purchase and stock, then heat them up in a microwave. Spend some time at your local grocery story or on line to see what is available.

I know of one shop owner who bought the equipment at a very low price from a local health club that closed, then set up a work out room at his shop.

I have both of these ideas on my long term to do list.

Thanks, those are good ideas and some I had not thought of. I think as businesses get larger and larger in the future this sort of thing may become common place. Wellness programs seem to make more sense [to me] than just paying doctors to repair people once they break. Laughing

Sounds like a new business opportunity. I predict with time you would be able to easily show new clients how your catering business improves efficiency, work attitude/enviroment, and significantly lowers days lost to illness. Good luck with the new venture. Smile
