Why should I care if my staff enjoy their jobs or not?

You should care,
Because your standards are high.

The owner, whose standards are low, does not care about his staff. This lack of caring has sorry results, however, and over time the attitude of “doesn’t matter” catches onto the staff themselves. This consequently pulls the business down into a less-than optimal state.

It is easier to pull people down then to lift them up. Easier, however, isn’t always better.

I'm sure we could write a book on that, but the primary thing that comes to my mind is that when people enjoy what they are doing they do a far better job. I know that I do...or at least think that I do. Wink

Hello all,
first post, so hope you'll bear with my ignorance. I agree with Tom and Dwayne. In my estimation, enjoyment=happiness=enthusiasm. While there are no promises, it should equate to productivity and contribute to quality. Like Tom says, I do much better when I'm enjoying my work. It's more like a hobby than the everyday grudge of what we have come to know as "work"! While there is a good living in automotive repair, I told both my sons not to follow my path if they did not enjoy this type of work. happiness is better than money anyday!
still not "out of the crisis"
Keith
