A few weeks back I posted on the new landscaping project for the front of our building. The project is completed and we have been quite pleased with the results so far.

As stated in the initial post, the value of such a project may be unknown and perhaps unknowable. Managers are often faced with such situations and are guided by theory. My primary objectives were:

  • A less cluttered look to the front of the building. The original land scape was mature and over-grown. Miniature species were used to prevent recurrence of the problem.

  • Less maintenance. An irrigation system was installed and placed on a timer and with moisture sensors. This saves a good deal of time spent watering, while saving water.

  • Help the appearance of the utility box and air conditioner compressors in the front of the building. The landscaping makes these unattractive items much less noticeable.

  • Soften and disguise the large transformer on the corner.

  • Make the building more attractive encouraging continued upkeep in the neighborhood.
Here's a few photos:

Front view, sprinklers have just run

Close up shows the utility boxes, they are barely noticeable when looking at the building and will be disguised further as the landscape fills in.

Appearance of transformer is greatly softened.

Thanks for posting these Louis. It looks great.

Time for me to do up my garden as summer is only just begining on my side of the world.

Thank goodness Summer is almost done here. It's my least favorite time of year, blazing hot and humid here.

I would really like to take a trip to your side of the world. I have never been there and hear it is quite beautiful.

Be sure to look me up when you come over Louis, I would be happy to spend a day showing you the local area. I live on one of the most beautiful coast lines in Australia.
