Many times people feel things are not as good as they should be, but also feel there is little they can do to change it. The auto repair trade is no exception and has its share of problems. As people with an interest in the trade, I feel we have a duty to try to make it a bit better than how we found it.
Every person has ideas, stories and thoughts that might help others. No one here is a professional writer, just type out your thoughts in your own words. Let’s all do what we can to make the auto repair trade a better place. Please post your thoughts and comments.

For the most part, people working in this trade have low self esteem.I think the greatest thing we can do is to raise peoples opinions of themselves. We need to realize that we are professionals, we have value in society and it takes a lot of knowledge to repair vehicles.
Pay people what they are worth, they need a good living wage.
Giving them training so they can do their jobs better.
Only working them 40 hours a week, they need to be able to spend time with their families.
Providing a clean, comfortable, pleasant work environment.
Telling people thanks when they do a good job.
Teach them some of the business end of the business so they can see how the business runs and where they fit into it.
Freely share knowledge with other shops and techs.
Join a trade organization and support it with time as well as money.
